About the song... I wrote this song for someone who is very special and close to me and who'd been having a very difficult time for too long. I wrote the song (and painted the pictures on the video) to inspire them to keep going and to see their way through, in what had been a terrible year for many of us – I hope it might inspire you and others too!
2020 had been an especially shit year for many of us - this is a song and video about the greater good that can come out of that and such things as we approached the end of thie year to hopefully embrace a better one to come
So this song is for those of us who have had a really hard time lately. I think the theme is fairly obvious - of the human spirit and soul growing stronger in the face of adversity. It's about drawing on the energies we need deep within us and around us. Really digging down inside us to find strengths we may have never thought or imagined we have. The Adélie penguin is a very feisty and resourceful little soul - there is a lovely video about an Adélie penguin rescuing emperor penguin chicks (each of them 1 metre tall! See the clip on "BBC Spy in the Snow" at www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7PlU... ). These notoriously feisty penguins also dive incredible depths to get their food.
Whether you like "Game of Thrones" or not - the archetypal warrior spirit of Daenerys represents someone who could have chosen to be a victim, but instead chose to evolve, to rise and thrive.... sometimes these energies and archetypes can be really useful to draw from and help us through when needed. One day the lyric and idea of the pairing of the two just came into my head, and the song grew from there.
And finally the phoenix rising, rebirthing through the fire again and again - needs no other explanation....
